July 23, 2017 would go down as one of the saddest days that Philippine Wrestling Revolution would ever get to witness.
After a tireless quest all throughout the first half of 2017, Chino Guinto would defeat all the odds and would go on to become the Philippine Excellence Champion at Wrevolution X 2017 after defeating SANDATA, Peter Versoza, and Ralph Imabayashi in a hotly-contested 4-way Match.
Chino would go on to defend the PHX Championship with poise and honor. He would first best the former champion Peter Versoza at PWR Live: Resbak and then defeated “The Senyorito” Jake De Leon at PWR x Eastwood: UnFather’s Day. That would be the last we’d see of The Golden Boy for a very long time due to an injury he sustained during training.
At PWR Live: Bakbakan Sa Bayanihan, Chino Guinto came out from the locker room to address the entire RevoNation on his condition. He had sustained a complete ACL tear, a strained MCL, and vertical tears on his menisci which would effectively keep him out of active competition for around a year. With a heavy heart, Chino Guinto relinquished the PHX Champion on that day.
As Chino placed his beloved championship in the middle of the ring, he was showered with cheers and applause of support which we believe helped make the Golden Boy’s heart grow stronger. But the story doesn’t end there.
Immediately after Chino Guinto left the ring, Ken Warren and the YOLO Twins would make their presence felt and Ken Warren demanded that he be granted the PHX Championship (of which he was the first wrestler to ever hold) right then and there.
Much to the Social Media Sinister’s dismay, however, PWR Ring Announcer Poch was not granted permission to do that. What Poch was granted to do was to inform Ken Warren of his match against Dax Xaviera. And it was happening right away!
For this week’s edition of #FullMatchFridays, we present to you the first main-show matchup between “The Social Media Sinister” Ken Warren going up against the “Sagisag ng Sigasig” Dax Xaviera from PWR Live: Bakbakan sa Bayanihan
Happy watching, RevoNation!
